I loved reading this book. It was just like sitting in class and hearing him teaching it. As a student of thatcher, I can assure you that the passion he has for John's literature explodes off the page. Even his funny nerd qualities come through as he refers to the three headed dog fluffy from Harry Potter. Read thi|About the Author|Tom Thatcher is Professor of Biblical Studies at Cincinnati Christian University, the author of Why John Wrote a Gospel: Jesus- Memory-History (2006), and co-editor of New Currents through John: A Global Perspective (2006), among other books.
Recent scholarship has shown that the peculiar history of a particular community of believers gave the Fourth Gospel its distinctive shape. Now Tom Thatcher argues that we must take account not just of tensions arising within the synagogue or between factions of believers in Christ but also attend to the Johannine portrayal of figures representing Roman rule in order to understand the Gospel's origin and message.
